LAHORE Punjab Education Minister Main Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman urged the students to participate more in sports activities as they enhance positive attitude amongst them. He was expressing the closing ceremony of annual sports gala of Government College University, held here on Sunday. Chief Guest emphasised on the importance of sports and he expressed that sports give new dimensions to the human mind and open new avenues and horizons to think. GCU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Ikram-u-Haq (SI) said sports make a person better, adding that it touches tolerance and encourages the spirit of competitiveness. He advised the students to never compromise on the standards of sportsmanship. Sportsmanship is more important than winning and event, Dr Ikramul Haq said. He appreciated the participation of students in Annual Sports and congratulated the winner sportsmen of the competitions. In the sports event, the Political Science Department lifted the prestigious general trophy at the closing ceremony of the 111th Annual Sports of the Government College University Lahore. GCU Biotechnology Department stood first among girls. Punjab Minister and Old Ravian Main Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman was the chief guest at the ceremony marked by colorful and vibrant Gymkhana events. The feminine competition of Chatti Race, won by History Department student Sadaf Aslam, and tug of war between elderly Old Ravians and GCU sports board senior officials remained the most enthralling events of the GCU Annual Sports Day. Zeeshan Akram won the most difficult competition of the day, the obstacle race.
