LAHORE – The Pakistan Minorities Movement (PMM) demanded authorities concern take steps to remove a sense of insecurity among minorities after the Joseph Colony vandalism.

PMM head Marton Javed Michal and Joseph Colony Supervisory Committee representatives Samuel Payara and Saleem Gabrael, Christian Lawyers Association President Ijaz Farhat and others raised the demand at a press conference here on Wednesday.

They said the minorities were facing socio-economic challenges and the Badami Bagh brutality had added to their worries.

Steps taken for rehabilitation of the victims of the colony were insufficient, they averred. They also stressed the need for promoting interfaith harmony to avert such acts.

NOTICE: The Environment Protection Department of the City District Government Lahore issued a notice to Zahid Steel Mill for ecocide.

According to EPD sources, the mill was operating in a residential area of Badami Bagh without any environment management system. On complaints of residents, the EPD authorities ordered the owner to improve environment conditions and appear before them.
