Cops involved in crimes to face the music: RPO





RAWALPINDI - Regional Police Officer (RPO) Rawalpindi Region Capt (retd) Muhammad Zubair said that those personnel who have been associated with police department but working for criminal elements would be dismissed from service.  
All the police officers should start a crackdown against the drug peddlers, gamblers and other criminal elements in their respective areas besides arresting them. The arrest of court absconders and proclaimed offenders should also be assured, said the RPO at a crime meeting held in his office on Wednesday.
The meeting was attended by City Police Officer (CPO) Azhar Hameed Khokhar, SSP (Operations) Israr Abbasi, SP Potohar Town Haroon Joya, SP Rawal Town Chaudhry Muhammad Hanif, SP Saddar Circle Waheed-ur-Rehman Khattak, SP Investigation Malik Jabbar Hussain, SP CIA Syed Haseeb Hussain Shah and DSPs of all circles.
Addressing the meeting, Capt (retd) Muhammad Zubair said that the security of mosques, Imambargahs, churches, government installations, airport, railway station and other areas should be enhanced to avoid any untoward incident.
He ordered the police officers to redress public grievances on priority basis. He said that as per National Judicial Police, the challans of cases should be submitted with the courts within stipulated time period. He said that all the police station facing shortage of force would be provided contingent of police. 
He asked to adopt proper mechanism of checking besides placing Nakkas on all entry and exit points of the city to discourage the criminal elements.
The RPO also ordered the authorities concerned to maintain the arms and ammunitions and vehicles in all police stations. He also ordered surprise search operation of all hotels, motels and guest houses to arrest the suspicious elements. 
According to sources, there are some reports that a huge number of Rawalpindi police men are hand in gloves with anti-social elements, provide them protection, receive extortion money from them and help the criminals in committing robberies. In the lights of these shocking reports, the police bosses have decided to purge the department from such black sheep.
The RPO neither responded to the several calls nor SMS of this scribe when asked the percentage of such police cops who withdrew salaries from police department but rendered their services to criminals.
