PESHAWAR - Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) Khyber Agency has demanded the government to establish a relief camp for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of Tehsil Bara, Khyber Agency.

Addressing a news conference here at press club on Wednesday, JUI-F Khyber Agency Senior Naib Meer Haji Shamsud Din Afridi said that more than 150,000 people were displaced from Khyber Agency owing to the ongoing military action.

Accompanied by the party local leader from Akakhel tribe, Zaiur Rahman and other leaders, he termed that the arrangements made for Khyber Agency IDPs were insufficient, and demanded for taking practical steps in this regard.

Expressing concern over the indifferent attitude of police and personnel of the law enforcement agencies with IDPs, he said the use of force against homeless people was injustice. He asked the Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to take notice of the police’s highhandedness.

The JUI-F leader also demanded the government to establish a relief camp for the IDPs at Kohat Development Authority ground in district Kohat and provide proper transportation facilities to displaced women, children and old to shift them at makeshift camps.

“The government should issue directives for immediate provision of food and non-food items and other essential utensils for displaced peoples at their temporary shelter facility in settled areas,” he demanded.

He also demanded the Fata Disaster Management Authority to initiate process of registration for displaced families residing at their relatives.

For this purpose, he said a registration desk should be established at various spots in Peshawar.

“The interim government and Governor, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa should take effective steps for mitigating sufferings of IDPs from Bara Khyber Agency,” he maintained.
