SHEIKHUPURA - A retired teacher was shot dead over resistance in a dacoity bid in Farooqabad police precincts on Tuesday.

According to details, victim Riasat, recently retired, was present in his house located in Gru Nanak Pura when three unidentified dacoits barged in scaling the boundary wall and started looting the valuable.

Riasat offered resistance on which the outlaws opened fire at him and fled away. As a result, he died on the spot. The residents protested against the poor law and order situation in the area and demanded the police high-ups punitive steps for the security of the people.

Farooqabad City police have registered a case.

Polio awareness banner completion held

POLLS: The annual Commerce Collages teaching staff divisional and central level election throughout the province would be held on April 10th and 15 respectively.  According to the schedule announced by the Chief Election Commissioner of teaching staff, Prof Naveed here said that the nomination paper for divisional level would be filed on March 23 while on central level on March 30.

POLIO DRIVE: A non-profit organisation arranged a polio awareness banners competition at City Park here the other day.

Additional District Collector Wajid Ali Shah inaugurated the awareness competition.

Before launching the idea, the COMNet held meetings with The DCO,EDO (health),schools, NGOs, medical clinics, trade unions and social activists and shared the idea of polio awareness banners, which was widely appreciated.

After the completion, the banners were displayed at various places in the city.
