At least 22 persons including five women and a minor girl were killed and 14 others injured in different incidents of enmity, violence and other mishaps over the past 48 hours.

According to details, in Jhang, two persons were killed in a road mishap occurred here on Jhang-Shorkot Road near Shashmahi Pull.

As per details, Hamadullah, son of Ziaul Hassan, Anser, son of Mureed, Zahid, Naseem Bibi and Roqaiya Bibi, a resident of Satellite Town Sargodha were on the way back from Multan. As they reached near Shashmahi Pull on Shorkot Road, the car they were travelling in collided with a truck. Resultantly, Naseem Bibi died on the spot while the four others sustained injured and were taken to THQ Hospital Shorkot where Hamadullah also succumbed to his injures.

In another mishap which occurred on Jhang-Chiniot Road, a man was killed. According to available reports, one Asad Hayat, son of Lal Khan, a resident of Mohallah Mochiwal, Bhuwana was returning home in a motorcycle rickshaw. When suddenly he fell down from the rickshaw and sustained head injury that led to his death on the spot.

Similarly, a woman was killed in yet another road on Jhang-Sargodha Road near Chenab Restaurant. The accident occurred when Malik Ahmed Khan Hisam, Sales Manager State Life Insurance, a resident of Ajmal Wala along his mother and his niece were on the way to Jhang on bike. As they reached near Chenab Restaurant, a speeding bike coming from the opposite direction collided with their bike. Resultantly, all the rider of both the motorcycles sustained serious injuries. In the meanwhile, mother of Malik Ahmed Khan succumbed to her injuries on the spot while other injured were rushed to DHQ Hospital.

On the other hand, dacoits killed a woman on putting up resistance.

As per details, four dacoits entered the house of one Bahadur Ali, a resident of Chak 169/JB, situated in the remit of Mochiwala Police, late the other night.

The accused started looting valuables during which 50-year-old Fateh Bibi, wife of Bahadur Ali woke up and offered resistance at which dacoits strangulated her and made off with gold ornaments weighing six Tolas and Rs20,000. The police concerned police have registered a case against four unidentified culprits and started investigation.

Meanwhile, a 12-year-old girl namely Madiha was killed in an accident that took place at Mahloana Morr. As per details, Madiha, a daughter of Muhammad Iqbal, three-year-old Nazim, son of Muhammad Iqbal and their cousins - five-year-old Hassan and one-year-old Hamad were asleep in a room when suddenly roof of the room collapsed due to rain. Resultantly, Madiha died on the spot while the other children sustained critical wounds. Rescue 1122 officials reached the spot and shifted the injured to DHQ Hospital.

In Bahawalpur, two cousins identified as 28-year-old Usman Jhandeer and 26-year-old Mohsin Jhandeer died from critical burns after a fire erupted in their room due to a gas leakage here the other night.

As per details, both the cousins were rushed to Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH) from where they were referred to the Burn Unit in CMH Bahawalpur where they succumbed to burns.

Both the deceased are said to be MBA graduates from IUB and were staying at Rehman Colony in Model Town in connection with further studies.

Meanwhile, two persons died and five others injured in a roadside accident near Yazman, the other day.

According to Rescue 1122, a coach (LRC-2329) collided with a Suzuki Mehran car due to speeding. Resultantly, two persons travelling in the car identified as Muhammad Latif and Muhammad Javed, residents of Fort Abbas died on the spot while Pervez received critical injuries and was admitted to the BVH.

On the other hand, some passengers of the Coaster who also sustained injuries including Ejaz, Lal Din, Ghulam Farid and Faizan Bibi were discharged after necessary treatment in the hospital. The police concerned have registered a case.

In Toba Tek Singh, a youth was murdered by unidentified culprits in Chak 425/JB Wahla here the other night. According to parents of deceased Muhammad Usman, he was on the way to a suburban village on a motorcycle when he was shot dead by unidentified assailants. The Saddr Police have registered a case against unidentified accused persons.

Similarly in Sahiwal, a young man identified as Nawazish Ali gunned down a young woman Kalsoom Bibi and later shot himself dead in Chak 61-4/R in the remit of Noor Shah Police.

According to details, the accused had developed illicit relation with Kalsoom Bibi, niece of Muhammad Ashiq. He demanded some money from her. However, her refusal enraged Nawazish and fired gunshots on her. Resultantly she sustained critical injuries and later he also shot himself in the head. Resultantly both died on the spot. The police have registered a case and started investigation.

Meanwhile, in Gujranwala, a woman was killed and five others including two children sustained bullet wounds in crossfire between two rival groups here the other day.

According to details, two rival - Safdar and Khalid groups of Papnakha village had been locked in enmity since long. Meanwhile, some persons from both the groups went into argument which led the Khalid group to start indiscriminate firing. As a result a passenger identified as Safina Bibi died on the spot while Safdar, Afzal, Nargis and two minors - Abu Huraira and Shahzad sustained critical injuries. The injured were rushed to hospital. The Ladhewala Police have registered a case.

In another incident, 55-year-old Nawaz, a resident of Daska was crushed to death by a speeding car while crossing the road. Similarly Ashraf, a resident of Wazirabad committed suicide by swallowing poisonous pills over some domestic issue problems while a married woman, Haroon and Aleem also attempted suicide and were subsequently hospitalised.  In yet another incident that occurred in the courtroom of Civil Judge Rana Tanvir, an applicant died due to heart attack during hearing. The deceased identified as Hadayat Ullah had turned up for hearing his four marla land case. During hearing he felt severe pain in the chest and was rushed to hospital but he cloud not survive.

In Faisalabad, a drug addict and an unemployed person committed suicide in separate areas. The addict hanged him while the unemployed man threw himself in front of a train and was crushed.

According to details, Baber, son of Khalil, a resident of Chak 208 situated in the limits of Madina Town, was a drug addict. When he did not get drug he committed suicide by hanging himself from the roof in a room of his house. While 40-year-old Shafiq, son of Khuda Bakhsh committed suicide due prolong unemployment.

Meanwhile, in Sargodha a mentally retarded youth clubbed his 90-year-old maternal grandmother to death. According to police, 17-year-old Nadeem attacked his old grandmother Haleema Bibi with a club. She received severe blows on her head and succumbed to her injuries. The accused ran away while the police started investigation.

In Hafizabad, old newspaper hawker Syed Mumtaz Hussain Shah of Bhoon Kalan was on the way to Madhrianwala village on a cycle to sell newspapers when a recklessly driven motorcycle rickshaw hit him as a result he died on the spot.

Another unidentified villager was shot dead by unidentified accused.

According to police source, the deceased whose identified was yet to be confirmed, was crossing Jhang Branch Bridge near Herseh Atla when unidentified accused opened indiscriminate firing, killing him instantly. The motive behind the offence could not be ascertained yet.
