BAHAWALPUR

The Islamia University Bahawalpur has planned holding three-day long International Urdu Conference under the topic “Urdu & 21st Century” from March 24.

Eminent national and foreign scholars, writers and poets will participate in the conference.

Punjab Governor Ch Muhammad Sarwar will preside over the inaugural session of the conference while IUB/GSCWU Vice-Chancellor Dr Muhammad Mukhtar will be the chief guest. Dr Najeeb Jamal will highlight objectives of the conference in his introductory address.

Federal Urdu University Karachi/Islamabad Vice-Chancellor Dr Zafar Iqbal will chair the 2nd session of the conference while Dr Tabbasum Kashmiri will preside over the 3rd session.

Later, a Mehfil-e-Ghazal will be held at 8:00pm at the IUB Baghdadul Jadid campus in which prominent singer Ghulam Abbas and university students will present ghazals.

Third sessions will be held on the 2nd day of the conference which will be chaired by renowned Broadcaster Dr Syed Raza Ali Abidi while India’s Dr Ali Javed and eminent literary figure Intezar Hussain will respectively chair the 1st, 2nd and 3rd sessions of the day, followed by a Mehfil-e-Mushaira in the night.

Two sessions will be held on the 3rd and last day of the conference on March 26.
