LAHORE - Barrister Iqbal Jafri in an interview with the Nawa-i-Waqt Sunday Magazine has said that land mafia not only grabbed Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s land in Lahore but also in Karachi.

He said that he filed a writ petition in the Lahore High Court to get the land evacuated but the court directed him to take the issue to Karachi where administrative office of the Quaid’s lands situated.

He said that the Quaid bought lands and houses in the big cities of the United India. Such a 14-kanal bungalow was situated at Aziz Bhatti Road Lahore but it was grabbed by the then Punjab government in 1944 and established a military mess in this building. Today, this building hosts the Corps commander Lahore, he said.

The act of that government was just to tease the greatest Muslim leader at that time, he held. In Gulberg, the mafia in guise of the Jinnah Trust grabbed precious 324-kanal land of the Quaid worth six billion. Jafri said that the mafia had also grabbed some 500-kanal of the Quaid’s land at Karachi Hocks Bay also.

 He said that it was a matter of shame for us that we did such a shameful act.
