GPS Plus reflects EU’s confidence in Pakistani goods

Islamabad (app):  President Mamnoon Hussain on Thursday said that the grant of GSP-Plus status to Pakistan demonstrated the trust and confidence of the EU countries in the quality and competitiveness of its goods and products. He was talking to Pakistan’s ambassador-designate to Belgium Ms Naghmana Hashmi who called on him at the Aiwan-e-Sadr. Congratulating Ms. Naghmana Hashmi on her new responsibilities, the President observed that Brussels, being the headquarters of EU, was an important Capital. He expressed the hope that the ambassador-designate would work with full devotion to further enhance cooperation between Pakistan and the European Union.

He also urged the newly appointed ambassador to play her active role in optimum utilization of the GSP-Plus facility to boost Pakistan’s exports to the EU countries.

The ambassador-designate thanked the President for reposing confidence in her and assured that she would use all her potential and capabilities to further cement Pakistan’s trade and commercial ties with Belgium and the EU.

‘DG Rangers remarks triggered anxiety amongst businessmen’

Karachi (Staff Reporter): The KCCI has expressed serious apprehensions and shock over the recent remarks of Director General Pakistan Ranger Sindh, Maj. Gen. Rizwan Akhtar. In a statement, former President KCCI Siraj Kassam Teli and other office bearers stated that DG Rangers’ remarks have triggered anxiety amongst members of the business and industrial community whose businesses are terribly suffering due to rising lawlessness despite the fact that a surgical operation is underway in many parts of the city. KCCI advised federal and provincial govts to make coordinated efforts and devise a clearly strategy for effectively deal with deteriorating law and order situation on war-footing basis.

 The government should stop playing politics as this is a matter of life and death for the citizens of Karachi and Karachiites don’t understand how the decision makers can take such a serious issue so lightly.

KCCI said that it is the foremost desire of every citizen of Karachi particularly the business and industrial community that peace must be restored on sustainable basis which can only be done by enhancing resources and powers to Law Enforcing Agencies (LEAs).

3rd Pak-China Business Forum 2014 commences today

ISLAMABAD (APP): COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) is organising 3rd Pak China Business Forum-2014 from March 21-24 to promote university-industry collaborations in business and economic sectors for mutual benefit of both the countries. More than 20 Chinese comapnies will arrange stalls on the occasion and MoUs will also be signed between various organizations. Research and development organizations and universities, public sector, private sector, local and international visitors will also participate in Business forum. CIIT also organized Business Forum in March 2013, and 2012 in collaboration with Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

, in which 32 Chinese and 88 Pakistani Companies participated and MoUs were signed between various organizations.

ACCA awards exemptions to LUMS

Lahore (Staff Reporter): ACCA has recently awarded exemptionsfrom first nine ACCA papers to graduates of LUMS from the BSc (Hons) Accounting and Finance programme. ACCA conducted a robust quality assurance process and extended this award on the basis of comparable curriculum of the two. This accreditation grants the maximum number of exemptions that are awarded to any education provider.  The ACCA papers exempted to the students of the accounting and finance program are F1-Accountant in Business, F2-Management Accounting, F3-Financial Accounting, F4-Corporate and Business Law, F5-Performance Management,  F6-Taxation, F7-Financial Reporting, F8-Audit and Assurance, F9-Financial Management.

FPCCI gems body head

Lahore (Staff Reporter): Federation of Paksitan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) Vice President and Regional Chairman S.M. Naseer has nominated Muhammad Ahmed, Chairman Lahore Division Sarafa & Jewellers Association and President Gold & Gems Art Promotion Council-Pakistan for the year 2014.  Muhammad Ahmed has already been Chairman of Regional Standing Committee on Gems & Jewellery for three years from 2010-12. Organizations related to the Lahore division Sarafa & Jewellers Association have hailed his nomination as chairman. They expressed the hope that gems & jewellery sector would make progress by leaps and bounds and help to resolve the problems of jewellers community.
