LAHORE - A process of promotion of 700 women assistant professors from BPS-18 to 19 has been completed after a series of meetings.
The recommendation has been sent to Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif for final approval after which a notification will soon be issued by the Higher Education Department Punjab.
The Punjab Higher Education Department had sent particulars and working papers of 811 women assistant professors to the Provincial Selection Board-II(PSB-II) to which final recommendations for promotion of 700 women assistant professors to next grade have been sent to the chief minister Punjab whereas promotion of women teachers who proceeded on long leave and incomplete record has been deferred.
The Provincial Selection Board has also decided to issue show-cause notices to such women assistant professors as are untraceable.
Additional Chief Secretary Shumail Ahmad Khawaja told that promotion of 700 women assistant professors in grade 19 in one time is a record in the history of Punjab.
Moreover, according to unified seniority list, promotion of more 400 male assistant professors as associate professors fulfilling the required criteria is also under process.
A meeting of Provincial Selection Board-II to be chaired by Chairman Shumail Ahmad Khawaja for the promotion of 108 male teachers and 70 female teachers of grade 18 to grade 19 will be held in the last week of current month.
