The National Highway Authority (NHA) has nodded for preparing a feasibility report under the supervision of DCOs for the project of Sialkot-Lahore Motorway in Sialkot and Gujranwala districts.

MNA Armughan Subhani said that the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has given the finally approval of the mega project of establishing the Sialkot-Lahore Motorway. He added that mega project would be helpful in socio-economic development of Sialkot. He added that Nawaz Sharif has approved the 90km project, saying the region’s remote and rural areas have been connected to the motorway.

He said that it would be constructed on Build-Operate and Own (BOT) system with total estimate cost of Rs45 billion. He said that the construction work on the motorway project would be started soon.

He added that the project would be completed in the stipulated period of next two years, saying that it would open new vistas of development in Sialkot region, especially in Pakistan’s first ever Golden Export Triangle comprising Sialkot, Gujrat and Gujranwala districts.

He narrated that the Motorway would start from Sahowala-Sambrial and will end at Kala Shah Kaku via Daska, Gujranwala and Kamonki. He said the project has a great commercial viability, which would be expanded to Kharian from Sambrial in the second phase. He said that it would be the busiest road in the country following the growing flow of traffic in the region.

273 VEHICLES CHALLANED: The district administration challaned 273 public transport vehicles and fined them Rs0.4 million for overcharging transporters here despite the reduction in POL prices.

Teams led by secretary District Road Transport Authority Sialkot Muzaffar Hayyat, conducted special checking of the public transport vehicles in Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial, Pasrur tehsils and surrounding areas. He said that 51 public transport vehicles have also been impounded for overcharging.
