ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Monday rejected appeals filed by the federal government against junior employees of the Pakistan Railways.

While taking up a petition filed by ticket checkers of Pakistan Railways, Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed remarked that the Pakistan Railways was a state institution but the government has ruined it by running it on the pattern of a seth (tycoon). The railways are a common man’s traveling mode but this is also being snatched from them. Filing appeals by the federal government against junior employees was not proper”.

The court while rejecting the government appeal pleas against ticket checker remarked that protecting employees’ rights was legal and constitutional obligation of the government.
