Naqeeb case: Rao Anwar arrested after he appeared before SC

Suspended SSP Malir Rai Anwar, wanted in Naqeebullah's murder, appeared before Supreme Court today. Following his appearance, the court ordered his arrest.

Eaelier today Rao Anwar reached Supreme Court in a white car wearing a surgical mask.

Upon his appearance before the the court Chief Justice of Pakistan, Saqib Nisar questioned, "you were running and hiding ,do you not trust the courts"? “Writing letters to me is not the right way to convay your point.” Saqib Nisar further added

" I am innocnet in this case", ex-SSP told the bench.

SC gave strict instructions to make RAo Anwar’s portction foolproof. His name will remain in Exit Control List (ECL), reports further added.

SC decided to form a new five member JIT headed by Additional Inspector-General (IG) Sindh Aftab Pathan.

Rao’s counsel requested the bench to include agency officials in JIT but the court rejected his plea. The Supreme Court also took back the contempt of court notice against him.

While talking to the media Naqeebullah father thanked all the people who supported his demand of Rao Anwar's arrest, with the  arrest of  Rao anwar I can now hope that justice will be delivered to us, he added.

Earlier the Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan has warned that those who are facilitating Rao Anwar and others accused in Naqeebullah murder case will not be spared.

A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar has been hearing the suo motu of Naqeebullah Mehsud’s extrajudicial killing.

The decamped SSP Malir Rao Anwaar in the fake encounter and killing of Naqeebullah Mehsud wrote letters to Supreme Court. Rao Anwar requested in his letters to Supreme Court that his frozen bank accounts should be impounded.

Chief Justice, Saqib Nisar, hearing the murder case under his suo motu notice said that the letter is yet to be confirmed whether it is sent by Rao Anwaar or not.

But the letter is included in the record of the court. The abscounded SSP had previously sent a letter to Supreme Court stating that he is innocent.

On January 13, 2018, Anwar killed an innocent named Naseemullah Mehsud Alias along with three others in a ‘staged encounter’ with the Malir police.
