Faisal Mosque closed as admin springs into action to check coronavirus spread

ISLAMABAD   -  The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has closed Faisal Mosque so as to check spread of the Coronavirus. 

According to officials, Assistant Commissioner (AC) Industrial Area visited Faisal Mosque and in the context of Covid prevention in the capital, closed the mosque for general public except for those coming for offering prayers. Announcement was made in the mosque regarding closure of the mosque and the imposition of lockdown in Islamabad.

Similarly, I-8 Markaz has been closed while the ICT admin officials would keep moving for regular inspections for Covid-19 SOPs implementation. AC (Industrial Area) visited I-8 and G-8 Markaz and closed all shops and restaurants that were operating. Strict instructions were passed regarding adherence to the Covid-19- related lockdown on safe days. Anjuman Tajiran was also taken on board in this regard, said the officials.

Furthermore, AC (Industrial Area) visited Centaurus Mall and all the non-essential commodity stores were closed, said the officials on Saturday. They said that the SOPs were being complied with. AC (Rural) visited Pak-Turk School at Chak Shehzad and its hostel. Complete campus has been closed for on-campus classes. Only two grades were allowed to come for exams under strict compliance to Covid SOPs till Wednesday, 24 March as the result has to be sent to Board for admissions. Boarding students are also to be sent for vacations as the administration has allowed the online classes to continue. AC (Secretariat) visited Marriott Hotel to check implementation of Covid-19 SOPs. Nadia Cafe has been closed as per directions of the NCOC while no outside guests are being allowed for dine-ins. However, in-house guests are also being served outside in open air under strict compliance of the Covid protocols, according to the officials. They said that AC (City) visited Aabpara Market to enforce weekend lockdown of all commercial activities (except essential services). Traders of the area also gathered and were briefed about the latest directions of the NCOC regarding measures to counter third wave of the pandemic. AC (Rural) visited Tramri Chowk area and issued warnings to the persons throwing garbage at the site. Moreover, operation to remove illegal cattle has been started.

AC (Shalimar) inspected Shalimar subdivision to ensure compliance to the notification issued by the DC office where all shops other than essential items/services have been closed. Those who were not following the SOPs were fined on the spot. AC (Rural) visited Allama Iqbal Model Town and closed the school as per the decision of notification of DHO Office upon violation of Covid-19 SOPs. He also visited restaurants, malls and shops to check implementation of Covid SOPs in Tarlai, PWD and Jinnah Town, according to officials.
