Look who's talking

SOME PML-Q female members have offered bangles and dupattas to their male colleagues who betrayed the party leadership as well as their own voters by forming a Forward Bloc. More interesting, the offer comes from those who changed loyalties in the past just to get lucrative positions in the previous set-up. But it was even more amusing to see former Punjab Chief Minister Ch Pervez Elahi highlight the need for ending the nefarious practice of floor crossing. Coming from someone who broke all records of forcing political opponents to switch over to his government, it sounds ludicrous. The Punjab under his five-year rule witnessed unprecedented horse trading. Those agreeing to change loyalties were rewarded with perks and privileges, while those who resisted the pressure were subjected to the worst kind of victimization. Ch Pervez should not forget that the majority of PML-Q Forward Bloc members had come from either the PML-N or other parties then in the opposition. But the fact remains that most of them did so unwillingly to escape the wrath of a coercive administration.
