Zardari to take decision at Chicago moot: Mukhtar

LAHORE - Defence Minister Ch Ahmad Mukhtar on Sunday said that President Asif Ali Zardari would take some decision on resumption of NATO supplies at the Chicago moot in the light of recommendations of the Defence Committee of the Cabinet (DCC) and keeping in view the national interests.
He also said that Nawaz Sharif’s stance over the NATO supplies would have been no different from that of the PPP had his party been in power at the moment.  ‘Those criticising the PPP government on the issue of NATO supplies would come to know the sensitivities of international relations only when thrown upto the difficult situation Pakistan was in at the moment’, he said while talking to media men at a dinner reception hosted in honour by PPP’s Punjab Finance Secretary, Aurangzeb Burki at Moon Market here.
He said President Zardari would take decision over the issue at the Chicago moot in the light of recommendations of the DCC and keeping in view the national interests.
Mukhtar said that NATO was not a single country but a group of 48 countries. ‘At present, Pakistan cannot afford to cut itself off from rest of the world or to take confrontation with other countries’, he remarked.
