KARACHI - Commissioner Roshan Ali Shiekh has directed all authorities concerned to keep all health facilities in the city ready for the treatment of dengue patients like the pervious year, as the monsoon is fast approaching.Presiding over a meeting at his office on Sunday, the commissioner said that all the authorities concerned should be prepared to handle any untoward situation. He urged all institutions to work jointly against the fatal disease.He said that Sindh Education Department had made good arrangements for the treatment of dengue patients last year hence the disease could not be surfaced in the province as much as it was in other provinces. The meeting was attended by deputy commissioners, administrators, DMCs, KMCs, officials from the Health Department and others. The meeting was informed that around 50 million dengue patients were reported annually in the world, while the disease had spread to 100 countries. Around 250 million people are on the risk.Rape, murder of six-year-old girl condemned: Sindh Minister Syed Faisal Sabzwari and MPA Muzammil Qureshi on Sunday strongly condemned the abduction, rape and brutal murder of a six-year-old girl, namely Fatima, in Gulshan-e-Iqbal area. The MQM leaders said that those behind this shameful act were an ugly blot on the face of the society. They extended their heartfelt sympathies to the grief-stricken family, saying the MQM shared their grief equally.Sabzwari and Qureshi demanded Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad and Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah to take serious notice of the brutal killing of the minor girl. They said those involved in this horrific crime must be brought to justice. They also stressed upon the need for legislation to impose stern penalties on rapists.
