MARDAN - The incidents of docoity have increased in the last few weeks in the district, especially in the city, due to which panic has been created among the masses.

Sources said docoity incidents have increased in the city for the last few weeks, adding that few weeks ago four persons entered the house of a schoolteacher in Gul Bahar mohallah, Charsadda Road, and looted cash and other valuables. They added that later unidentified gunmen entered Faizullah Khan’s house, located at Toheed Colony, and looted gold ornaments and cash.

They said unidentified men snatched motorbike, cash and mobile sets from a shopkeeper Akhtar Gul and a customer Abidullah who brought his motorbike for puncher at his shop on Charsadda Road. On last Friday, unidentified persons stole millions of rupees cash and tractor tiers from two shops at Adnan Plaza, Charsadda Road. They said all these incidents occurred in the areas of provincial constituency PK-23 from where the chief minister was elected MPA.

They said the other day unidentified persons snatched Rs 30,000 cash, a mobile set and other valuables form a person identified as Irshad in front of his house in posh area of the city Sheikh Maltoon Town (SMT) in Sector-B. They said the location is a few metres away from the houses of Chief Minister Ameer Hadiar Khan Hoti and Inspector General of Police (IGP), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mohammad Akbar Khan Hoti. Few days ago, they added, unidentified gunmen enter the house of Zahid Bashir located at Sham Gunj area and looted cash, gold ornaments and other valuable things. Unidentified gunmen looted several people at their ‘checkpoint’ on Babani Road in the Chura Police Station limits in the evening. The gunmen took people to the nearby fields and tied them up one by one and two of the gunmen guarded them while others went to the road and brought more persons to the fields. The gunmen then snatched three motorbikes, eight mobile phones, Rs 24,300 cash and Rs 7,500 prize bonds from all the ‘hostages’. Unidentified gunmen looted three houses during the ongoing series of docoity. They looted Rs 90,000 cash and other valuables from the house of Mohammad Hussain in Sharifabad, other houses of Samiullah and Shah Hussain located at Bismillah Colony in the limits of Sharushah Police Station. They also looted cash, gold ornaments and other valuables.

It is to be noted that there are several cases of docoity in which police did not register the first information report (FIR) and are using delaying tactics. In some parts of the city people also committed encounter with unidentified thieves during night. Several people of the city are doing laboring all the day and at night they are performing security on their houses. Sources further said that due to this situation panic has been created among the masses.
