RAWALPINDI  – Punjab Flour Mills Association (PFMA) has categorically denied any increase in flour prices, saying that the commodity was being sold across the Pindi Division at the approved rates.Member Executive Committee of the Association Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtartold APP that flour mills were buying wheat from the open market and in spite of that 20-KG flour bag was being sold in line with the rate fixed by the District Price Control Committee.  He said there was no shortage of flour in any part of the division and the 20-KG bag was available at Rs.590.However, he said that there could be increase in flour price after the issuance of new wheat procurement rates by the Punjab government.When contacted, Director Foods Chaudhry Muhammad Ajmal said only theDistrict Coordination Officer was authorized to take action against the flour mills, if found, selling flour on higher rates as presently the Food Department was not providing wheat to flour mills.  He said flour mills have been purchasing wheat from the Rawalpindi Food Department till 30 April.So far, he said the Punjab government has not fixed the ‘Issue rate’ of wheat for flour mills and as soon as it was agreed, the new rate of flour would be announced.
