KARACHI - Despite the clear directives of Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah to remove the wall-chalking, posters and billboards espousing creation of a separate province for the Muhajirs, controversial graffiti can be seen in many areas of the city.The law-enforcement agencies and KMC administration are yet to remove the controversial graffiti and posters from Gulistan-e-Johar, Liaquatabad, Nazimabad, Gulshan-e-Iqbal and other areas. The ruling PPP and nationalists have sternly reacted to these graffiti and posters. The nationalist parties have joined hands to strongly resist to what they termed as a conspiracy to divide Sindh. They warned the elements behind the conspiracy of bloodshed if they did not stop forthwith. The nationalist leaders asked themto leave Sindh if they did not have love for their motherland.They also announced to take out a rally on May 28 against the conspiracy to carve out a ‘Muhajir’ province. Meanwhile, the banned Peoples Amn Committee and Awami Tehreek have also announced to take out a huge rally on Tuesday (May 22) from Lyari to the Karachi Press Club against the Muhajir province conspiracy. The ruling PPP meanwhile also woke up and announced to take action against the elements involved in the graffiti, posters in support of the creation of a province. The PPP and nationalist leaders also asked the MQM to clarify its position over the matter as such activities were being largely witnessed in their stronghold.Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah late on Saturday evening ordered removal of graffiti by the Mohajir Suba Tehreek (MST) on city’s walls in favour of a new province in Sindh.Removing the wall-chalking, as well as billboards and banners placed by the group, police came into action late Saturday night, purging walls of the graffiti around Sindh Assembly and at different areas. On Saturday, Speaker Sindh Assembly, Nisar Khuhro, termed the demand of a new province as a ‘conspiracy’ like that of ‘Sindhu Desh’. Khuhro said “new slogans are being raised after the demands of Jinnah Poor and South Sindh provinces. People will refuse the demand of Mohajir province as they have refused Sindhu Desh in the past.”
