MANSEHRA - The Department of Archeology, Hazara University, in collaboration with the Abbott Museum, Abbottabad observed the International Museum Day.

A painting competition was held to highlight the significance of the day in which special students participated. The event was held to join with more than 30,000 museums across the world celebrating International Museum Day. On the occasion, Dr Abdul Samad, Chairman Department of Archaeology, Hazara University, Prof Dr Sakhawat Shah, Dean Faculty of Arts, Prof Dr Syed Anwar were present.

Dr Abdul Samad, while highlighting the importance of the day, said that the Abbott Museum had integral role in promotion of cultural heritage of Hazara division. He further explained that the Department of Archaeology had initiated friends of Museum campaign to request to donate antique objects to Abbott Museum, will be honored awards “Friends of Museum” on their valuable contribution. He said that the participation of “special students” on this auspicious occasion has great worth and highlighted the significance of the day. He informed that the event painting objects would be sent to the International Council of Museum in France for best museum programme in the world. On the occasion, he also read out a message of the University Vice Chancellor regarding the World Museum Day, in which said that, Museum as source of education for our young generation. The message further said that theUniversity would extend their full support to disseminate the knowledge about our culture heritage.

The students of Dar-e-Arqam School Abbottabad and Kingston School for Inclusive Education Abbottabad also achieved first three prizes in painting competition as participated to celebrate World Museum Day with the Hazara University. At the end, on behalf of VC Prof Dr Sakhawat Shah the Dean of Arts Prof Dr Syed Anwar Hazara University has distributed prizes among the participants.
