MIRPUR (AJK) - Visiting eminent journalist from occupied Jammu & Kashmir Ved Bhasin demanded immediate constitution of the International Tribunal to probe into unabated massive human rights abuses in the Indian-held Kashmir by the security forces.

He was addressing a joint press conference along with Jammu & Kashmir Intellectual Forum chairman Justice (r) Abdul Majeed Mallick at the conclusion of daylong Intra-Jammu Kashmir Conference of the leaders from diverse segments of civil society. The two leaders were flanked by visiting elderly journalist-cum-politician from Jammu Krishen Dev Seithi, PPP (Shaheed Bhutto) AJK President Ch Munir Hussain, research scholar Raja Khalid Akber Khan and JKLF (Yasin Mallick) AJK chapter Sabir Insari.

Ved Bhasin continued that the human rights abuses, which were continued in the Held Kashmir since about last two decades were a matter of grave concern for the people across the LoC in particular and the civilized world as a whole. “The large scale human rights violations which deprived Kashmiri women of their children, children of their mothers as well as even the elderly people became the target of the human rights abuses in the IHK state”, he pointed out.

Bhasin further urged for immediate withdrawal of draconian laws including Armed Forces Special Power Act (AFSPA) and Public Safety Act (PSA), immediate unconditional release of all political detenus, and withdrawal of cases registered against them in the Indian-held Jammu Kashmir state to pave the way for moving ahead for the resolution of Kashmir issue in line with the aspirations of the people of Jammu & Kashmir, he observed. On the occasion, Krishen Dev Seithi demanded the constitutional or an international inquiry tribunal to probe into the cases of the recent unearthing of over 2800 of unmarked graves in the occupied valley.

Addressing the press conference Justice (r) Abdul Majeed Mallick said that the objective of holding of the intra-Jammu Kashmir Conference was to remind the UNO of performing its global obligations for getting Kashmir issue settled through ensuring early grant of right to self-determination.

Mallick said that it was enjoined upon UNO to get the Kashmir freedom movement reached to its logical end. “It is primarily the duty of the Secretary General UNO to get implemented the UN resolutions on Kashmir issue by appointing his representative to pave the way for emergence of a conducive atmosphere for holding plebiscite in the turbulent Jammu & Kashmir state.
