Chishtian Additional District and Sessions Judge Shahid Mehmood ordered registration of a case against Mir Shakeel, Shaista Lodhi, Veena Malik and Asad Khatak over a sacrilegious programme aired by Geo TV channel.
According to details, Advocate Asif Sajjad Ramday filed a writ petition on the behalf of Advocate Malik Arbab Jahangir, seeking action against owner of Geo TV Mir Shakeel, anchor person Shaista Lodhi, actress Veena Malik and her spouse Asad Khatak over a blasphemous programme aired by the channel. He said that the programme had hurt sentiments of millions of Muslim across the country. Taking the petition, Chishtian Additional District and Sessions Judge Shahid Mehmood ordered registration of a case against the respondents.
Following the verdict, the petitioner reached the police station to get registered a case. However, at the police station, an ASI barred him from the case registration. At which they exchanged harsh and the ASI thrashed Malik Arbab. He also retaliated and during the scuffle his black coat and clothes were torn off.
Later his fellow lawyers including Basit Aziz Khan and Riaz Bukhari took him away the police station. Mr Arbab alleged that the police snatched wallet, his car (Honda city LZO-512) and other valuables from him. Meanwhile, when contacted SHO Younas Butter had another story to tell, saying that the police asked Malik Arbab to visit the police station for the examination of his car as the police were search for a stolen car. He claimed that when the police asked the lawyer for the examination of the car, he got infuriated and scuffled with the police. Younas Butter said that as far court orders regarding registration a case against ‘Geo tv owner and others, was concerned, no such matter was discussed there.
