Punjab Chief Minister’s Inspection Team, led by its Chairman Irfan Ali on Tuesday reached Govt Boys & Girls Primary School Sanghey, Pasrur Tehsil and inspected the collapsed classroom. On the occasion, the team found several prove of use of substandard construction material in the construction of building of the school.

The team also took all the official record of this school in custody as the team is scheduled to present its report to the Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

The CMIT took serious notice of the critical situation and warned that all the responsible officials would be taken to task. CMIT members including Zahid Hussain, Akbar Ali, Sialkot DCO Iftikhar Ali Sahu, District Monitoring Officer (DMO) Muhammad Aamir, EDO (Education) Saleem Khan and other officials of the Sialkot education and buildings department and senior journalists were also present on the occasion.

On the occasion, DO Elementary Education Fareeda Khawar informed the CMIT members that she had already declared the school building dangerous and had requested senior officials of the education department to shift the school to somewhere else. It is to be noted that on Monday, six minor girl students were injured when roof of their dilapidating classroom caved in at Govt Girls Primary School Sanghey.

According to the only teacher of this school Shazia Parveen, school has only two classrooms, out of which one has collapsed while the second was also in a shambles. Boundary wall of the school has already collapsed.

Locals informed the CMIT members that the school building was constructed in 1990 (24 years ago), but due to use of substandard material in construction the building remained in a shambles.

It is to be noted that the school is located in constituency (NA 114 Pasrur) of Federal Minister for Science and technology Zahid Hamid. Sialkot DCO Iftikhar Ali Sahu has already ordered a departmental inquiry into the incident.
