KARACHI - Unabated violence continued hitting Karachi as 11 people were shot dead in last 24 hours.

Gunmen riding a motorbike targeted Aminul Haq and Amanul Haq, real brothers, at Sector 11, Orangi Town.

Police said both the brothers were going home when gunmen targeted them and fled. The victims were the residents of Toheed Colony, Orangi Town. They were the owners of a hardware shop in the locality where they were shot dead on sectarian grounds. Police said both the victims were affiliated with Sunni Tehreek Pakistan. Their funeral prayers were offered at Farooqi Mosque and later they were laid to rest in Jannatul Baqi graveyard. Tension engulfed the area causing suspension of commercial and non commercial activities.        

In another incident of sectarian killing, an owner of general store and his salesman were killed in Hassan Noman Colony in Gulbahar police precincts. Police said Muhammad Ali and his friend Aleemudin were sitting near the Imambargah Masoomiya where gunmen riding a motorbike came and sprayed bullets on them.

The assailants managed to flee while the victims succumbed to injuries on the way to hospital. Police said both the victims were targeted when they were going home after closing the shop. The bodies were rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and later were handed over to the families. Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat claimed that Ali was the local leader of their party while Aleemudin was a sympathiser.

Meanwhile, some gunmen targeted a high roof van in Korangi area killing Hassan Mehdi, operation manager at a local bank, in Awami Colony police precincts. Police termed it a sectarian incident.

Some unknown assailants threw a shot dead body of a youth in Mominabad police precincts of Orangi Town. Police rushed to the spot after being informed and shifted the body to hospital where the victim was identified as Rizwan. Police said two of his brothers were also killed in a similar way two years ago. The motive behind the murder has yet to be ascertained.  

A man was shot dead in mysterious circumstances in Baghdadi police precincts. Police claimed the victim was wounded during the encounter while the witnesses said the man was a passerby and gunned down when rival Lyari gangsters were engaged in armed clash. He was yet to be identified. The body was shifted to morgue for identification after autopsy.

Similarly, in another incident of firing an unknown woman was shot dead in Lyari. Police said the woman was shot dead by unknown gunmen. The body was shifted to morgue for identification after autopsy. On the other side, police found a shot dead body from Northern Bypass in Surjani police precincts. The body was rushed to morgue for identification after autopsy where doctors said the victim was shot multiple times after brutal torture.  

In another incident, a man was stabbed to death when he was asleep at the roof of his home situated in Manghopir police precincts. Police said the victim Barkat Ali Shah was a prayer leader of the area’s mosque. The body was handed over to the family after autopsy.
