Raise in salary demanded

LAHORE - The Ittehad-e-Asatiza Punjab central President Prof Nazim Hussnain has demanded the Punjab government to amalgamate all allowances of government servants into basic salary and increase their wages according to inflation proportion.
He was addressing a hurriedly called meeting here on Tuesday at union office. Other office-bearers of Ittehad-e-Asatiza Punjab including Prof Majid Wazir, Prof Tousif Sadiq, Prof Dr Tanveer Hussain Prof Sarwar Shad, Prof Zubair Jan, Prof Javed Akhtar, Prof Zahid Awan, Prof Uzma Sethi, Prof Ghazala Abid and Prof Dr Tahir Rana also spoke on the occasion.
Prof Nazim Hussnain further said that last year government increased 10 per cent salaries but enhanced more than 10pc taxes simultaneously and decreased 2 per cent interest on GP funds. Resultantly, government employees received 2 per cent less salaries. He said now government servants would not be eluded as they came to know the jugglery of digits of Finance Division.
He warned that if government fails to accept Asatiza’s genuine demand of raise in salary, teachers from across the country would conduct a sit-in in front of Parliament in Islamabad until acceptance of their demands.
