ISLAMABAD  - Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) has recommended the appointment of 10 Lahore High Court additional judges, sources said on Wednesday.

The commission's meeting was held here under the chairmanship of Chief Justice of Pakistan Nasir ul Mulk for the appointment of additional judges, who were initiated by Chief Justice Lahore High Court Manzoor Ahmad Malik.

The sources said that the commission approved these names, wherein two District & Sessions Judges Sardar Ahmed Nadeem and Mushtaq Ahmad Tarar are also included in the list. The lawyers, who are recommended for the post of additional judges are Shahid Mobeen, Farrukh Gulzar Awan, Raja Shahid Mehmood Abbasi, Aslam Javed Minhas, Shehram Sarwar, Sajjid Mehmood Sethi and Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar.

Likewise, the name of one female lawyer namely Erum Sajjad Gul has also been approved for the appointment as additional judge LHC. Presently, 49 judges are working in the Lahore High Court and the total strength is 60.

Meanwhile, the commission has recommended one-year extension in the tenure of Islamabad High Court's additional judge Justice Athar Minallah.
