LAHORE: Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) Managing Director Khalid Majeed has terminated M Atif, Assistant Manager Operations, Zone 11 on account of negligence.

During his surprise visit to various areas including Nabha Road, Old Anarkali on Wednesday, the MD terminated Atif on account of negligence and unsatisfactory state of cleanliness in his area of duty.

Iftikhar Zaidi, Assistant Manager Operations, Zone 14 along with Zulfiqar Kazmi, Zonal Officer was also suspended.

‘Majeed has issued strict instructions to ensure cleanliness across the city as per schedule and timely resolution of waste related complaints received through helpline 1139 and all other sources,’ said Jameel Khawar, LWMC spokesperson.–Staff Reporter

Show cause notices to Pepco MD, Lesco chief

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Wednesday issued show cause notices to Pepco MD, GM and Lesco chief for submitting unsatisfactory reply regarding the transfer of an executive engineer on a contempt petition.

As the hearing commenced, the respondents through their counsel submitted their replies on the matter; however, the court expressed dissatisfaction over their replies. The issued show cause notices to them seeking a justification of their act and adjourned hearing till June 18.

An engineer had obtained a stay order against his transfer from outside Lesco but he said that the respondents issued his transfer order. He then filed a contempt of court petition seeking action against the three respondents.–Staff Reporter

Dental Hospital OPD closed down

LAHORE: The young doctors closed down OPD of Dental Hospital on Wednesday to press for the demand of repair of dysfunctional equipment, causing huge inconvenience to the visiting patients.

YDA leaders Dr Arshad Malik, Dr Altaf and Dr Ahmed Awais closed down OPD and staged a demonstration to press for the acceptance of demands.

Dr Arshad Malik said that only four out of 25 units were functional that was causing inconvenience to patients and doctors. He said that air conditioners were also not working. He said that instruments were being washed manually as sterilisation system was not working for the last one and half year.

He said that this was spreading hepatitis and other diseases among patients and doctors. He said that administration was not paying any heed to complaints that had caused doctors to stop work in protest.–Staff Reporter

LAHORE: The Punjab University Department of French in connection with faculty training programme will organise workshop on “Setting a Question Paper” today (Thursday). The session will specially address the young and freshly recruited teachers entrusted with the teaching of graduate and postgraduate classes.

DATE SHEETS: Punjab University Examinations Department has issued written date sheets of LLB Part-I, II and III annual examination 2015. The commencement dates of LLB Part-I, II and III annual examination 2015 are June 15, 16 and 17, 2015 respectively.  Details are also available at PU website
