At least seven students were injured as a result of a violent clash took place in Mirpur University of Science & Technology (MUST) campus here on Wednesday over the dispute of nomination of class representative, police said.

The students belonging to electrical and mechanical engineering departments quarreled with each other over the minor dispute of nomination of the class representative, city police sources said.

The students pelted with each other with stones which resulted in injuring at least seven students. The injured students were identified as Nauman Aziz of Bhimberm, Anwarul haq of Khariyan, Rakher Iqbal  and Muhammad Usman of Bhimber district.

They were rushed to Mirpur District Hospital where their condition is stated to be out of danger, Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Bashir Chaudhry said.

Led by the Duty Magistrate Raja Qaiser Aurangzeb, heavy police contingent rushed the scene of occurrence and quelled the situation. Police have booked the students accused of hooliganism in the varsity campus.
