ISLAMABAD - Pakistan has expressed concerns over critical illness of the daughter of Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani. "We have received the news. We are concerned over her health condition and pray for her speedy recovery," Foreign Office spokesperson said in statement issued on Wednesay.
He said that Pakistan has sympathised with Syed Ali Shah Geelani, who is unable to travel to Saudi Arabia to see his daughter in Jeddah due to travel restrictions imposed on him. "Pakistan has offered to extend every possible assistance to Syed Ali Shah Geelani and his family.
The statement said it is unfortunate that a humanitarian issue is being played up in the Indian media.
Shah assures NA role for NWA IDPs early return: Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah on Wednesday said that efforts would be made to pass a joint resolution in the favour of IDPs of troubled area.
He assured this to a delegation led by Chairman All Parties Political Alliance from North Waziristan here. The meeting was also attended by PPP senior leaders Syed Yousaf Raza Gilanai, Senator Robina Khalid, Qamar Zaman Kaira, former MNA Zamurd Khan and FATA's former MNA Akhunzada Chattan.
The delegation members asked Khursheed to stress the government for early return of IDPs to North Waziristan. "The return of IDPs should be ensured by the month of Ramazan," they said. They discussed with the PPP senior leaders that reconstruction work in the affected areas of North Waziristan is unsatisfactory.
They further demanded that a resolution should be passed by the parliament for the favour of IDPs from North Waziristan. On it, Khursheed Shah said that he would discuss with all parliamentary leaders and efforts would be made to pass the resolution on this issue.
