Rawalpindi -  A joint team of Pakistan Customs and Airports Security Force (ASF) on Wednesday apprehended a passenger with foreign currency worth Rs 5,277,000 at Benazir Bhutto Islamabad International Airport (BBIIAP), informed sources.

The accused was identified as Ijaz Baig son of Riaz Baig and a case was registered against him, sources said.

According to sources, a joint team of Pakistan Customs and ASF recovered foreign currency during search of handbag of a passenger Ijaz Baig, bearing passport number AB3929744, and arrested him on the spot. The currency that was seized included US $50,000, Canadian $1550 and Thai Bhaat 260, sources said.

Pakistan Customs Deputy Collector at BBIIAP Navid Bugvi, when contacted, confirmed the development.
