KARACHI - Voice for Missing Persons of Sindh (VMPS) on Sunday started a 72-hour hunger strike outside Karachi Press Club (KPC) against enforced disappearances of certain people in Sindh.
A large number of people belonging to different political parties, human rights organizations and civil society participated in the hunger strike.
Families of the missing persons Hidayat Lohar, Khadim Areejo, Aijaz Gaaho, Deedar Amrat and Nangar Channa attended the protest. The protesting activists were carrying placards and banners and were chanting slogans against the government for not recovering the missing persons.
The protest was led by VMPS Convener Sorath Lohar, SassuI Lohar, Tanveer Arijo, Jeay Sindh Quami Muhaz-Aresar (JSQM) leader Ameer Hassan, JSQM-Bashir gorup leader Niaz Kalani.
At an instant situation gone violent as police personnel manhandled and misbehaved with a media man, Imam Bux Keerio, while he was covering the event.
The police also snatched camera from the journalist but later return it. The police also manhandled two protesting girls on this occasion. The protesters demanded action against the police and recovery of the missing persons.
