LAKKI MARWAT - Two alleged drug traffickers were arrested and their ringleader escaped after an encounter with police in Ghaznikhel area, police said on Thursday.

“A police contingent raided a narcotics den in the rural locality on information about the presence of a drug trafficker Attiq there,” said an official.

He said three narcotics sellers attacked the policemen when they noticed them laying a siege around their hideout. He said that Attiq managed to escape as police returned fire in self defence.

The cops, however, captured two alleged drug peddlers identified as Qismatullah and Salman and seized a pistol, bullets, ice drug and a motorcycle from them, the official said added that injured Qismatullah was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital Tajazai.

He said that Ghaznikhel police had registered a case against the arrested men and their fleeing accomplice under relevant sections of law and started investigation.
