PFF holds boats rally to mark World Fisheries Day

KARACHI - Pakistan Fisher folk Forum (PFF) on Friday took out a boats rally from Karachi Fish Harbor to Baba Bhit Island in Arabian Sea. A number of fishermen in more than one hundreds boats took part in the rally that was organised as part of the Weeklong Celebration (November 16 to 21) in connection with World Fisheries Day by PFF across Pakistan. In this regard, hundreds of fishermen belonging to different areas of Karachi including Baba Bhit, Shamas Pir, Salah Abad, kaka village, Sheren jinnah colony, Hawks Bay, Mubark Village, Ibrahim Hydri, Rehri and other areas reached Fish Harbor through their well decorated and colourful boats. From where Mohammad Ali Shah, chairman Pakistan Fisher folk Forum, Saeed Baloch, secretary general, Sindh Fisheries Minster Zahid Bhurgri, Jaffar Khawaja administrative Fishermen Cooperative Society, Majeed Motani, president PFF Karachi Division, Tahira Ali, Yousif Gadani, and a large number fishermen participated in the rally. On the occasion, PFF Chairman Mohammad Ali Shah while addressing the rally said that since its inception in 1998, the Pakistan FisherFolk Forum has been observing World Fisheries Day every year. Through this event the voice of fishermen is highlighted and conveyed to authorities. He further said that first time in the history of Pakistan the day is being celebrated as One-week celebration(16 to 21November) in which from Karachi to Kashmore huge public gathering, rallies, seminars have been organized. World Fisheries Day being observed on November 21 (today), the PFF, in collaboration with the Sindh government is going to organise a big public gathering and a fishermen cultural Mela. Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah will be the chief guest on the occasion. Dr Mohammad Yousaf, Majeed Motani, Saeed Baloch, Tahira Ali, Kosar, Ayoub Shan and others also addressed the boat rally.
