LAHORE - Rector Foreman Christian (FC) College University Dr Peter H Armacost collapsed at the stage during the 3rd annual convocation on Friday evening, as he stood along with the chief guest Governor Salmaan Taseer to award roll of honours, medals and degrees to the graduating students. The 75-year-old American academician fell unconscious as the students of Master of Business Administration lined up to receive their degrees at the last leg of distribution to a long list of MA, MSc, BA, BSc (Hons) BSc (Computer Science) and courses. Luckily, he remained unhurt. Seeing Dr Armacost suddenly collapsed, Governor Salmaan suspended the proceedings. The persons present at the stage, including a doctor, rushed to help him regaining his conscious. Dr Armacost recovered after five minutes and was escorted back to his seat. As he stood up, the hall burst into loud clapping in delight paying him standing ovation for five minutes, which he responded with a smile though he was a little bit dilapidated. He also gestured in gratitude to the remarks of Salmaan when he in his address highly praised the distinguished academician. Afterwards, the proceedings were resumed followed by the governors address. At the end, Dr Armacost led the convocation procession out of the hall along with Salmaan Taseer. He was, however, escorted to a Rescue 1122 ambulance, which was called as a precautionary measure. Armacost soon joined the guests at the refreshment tables and stood along with Salmaan during the chat with media.
