ISLAMABAD The Federal Minister for Sports, Pir Aftab Hussain Shah Jilani, has said that the ministry of sports had taken a vital step to create sports facilities in the rural areas of the country as 67 per cent of the country population lives in rural areas. He said the aim of establishing sports projects is to provide sporting outreach to the rural youth and get them involved in mainstream sporting activities. Jilani said that the approval of three projects in CDWP meeting was a way forward to getting youth to participate in all sports at tehsil, district, division and national level. He said the poor standard of sports had resulted in a loss of interest among the masses particularly at rural level. He said the initiative of establishing sports projects is in conformity of National Sports Policy that chiefly aims at promoting sports at grassroots level and enhancing public affiliation with the national and cultural sports. The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) in its meeting approved three sports projects for Sukkur, Narowal and Multan.
