10 injured in Karachi mini cinema blast

KARACHI Ten persons were injured in a small device blast in a mini-cinema situated in Lee Market here on Sunday in the limits of Kharadar police station. The blast accrued at 10.17pm in a mini-cinema namely Kumhar Cinema during interval, resultantly at least 10 people received multiple injuries and were rushed to near by Lyari General Hospital and Civil Hospital Karachi. Sources said it was a low intensity blast occurred inside the premises of the cinema. The area is densely populated while panic and fear gripped the public and also people present in the cinema. Sources at Civil Hospital stated that five injured were brought to the hospital, who sustained minor injuries.They were later identified as Abu Bakar, Ashfaq Ali, Ghulam Hussain, Rizwan and Sadiq while their condition was out of danger. Witnesses said they have had no idea as the blast suddenly took place shortly after they entered the cinema after the interval. District South SSP Naeem Sheikh said that apparently the culprits used time device which was concealed under the seat in the cinema, adding, that the explosion happened during interval when a few people were present inside the cinema while the majority of them were outside the cinema. He said that business dispute or ransom could be the reason behind the incident but police was also investigating the case from different angles to know about the incident.
