LAHORE - Provincial Disaster Management Authority Director General Dr Ahmed Javed Qazi has said that process of distribution of Rs 16 billion among more than 3.5 lakh flood affectees will be completed until November 25.

He expressed these views while addressing a review meeting regarding distribution of financial assistance among flood affectees in the second phase. In the second phase, he said, pay orders of Rs 8.86 billion had so far been distributed among two lakh 50 thousand flood affectees.

“Flood affectees are keeping a constant contact on helpline of PDMA for any kind of information. Complaints of flood affectees regarding non receipt of financial assistance are also verified through third party. A strategy is being evolved for strict action against the bogus or false complaints,” he added.

Qazi said: “Punjab chief minister is personally monitoring the whole process in order to avoid any injustice. District scrutiny committees of the province have been directed to verify the process of complaints of flood affectees at the earliest.”

He said that government was giving compensation of Rs 10,000 per acre to the flood affectees for loss of their crops, Rs 80,000 for completely destroyed house and Rs 40,000 for partially destructed house. He said that poor flood affected families were also being provided Rs 10,000 for starting their own business.
