LAHORE: A special seminar was held in the main auditorium of the Department of History & Pakistan Studies, University of the Punjab, on Thursday.
Dr Hassan Imam, a renowned Indian historian, research scholar from Aligarh Muslim University, India, was the key note speaker. He delivered his lecture on "The Indian Nationalist Movement: The Role of Banned Literature", which discussing tile significance of the prescript banned literature in the Indian history. He highlighted in detail, different kinds of writings various common Indians. He urged the historians to consider the role of "Subaltern" while writing history Colonial India.
Delivering his presidential address, Professor Iqbal Chawla, a renowned historian and PU Department of History & Pakistan Studies Chairman appreciated the quality of arguments and sources in the lecture of Hassan Imam. He, however, presented the other side of picture about the controversies and debates regarding the Subaltern Studies.
