LAHORE - Justice (R) Javed Iqbal, chairman of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), has said the bureau is not meant to victimise any individual, political party or province.

“We will adopt zero-tolerance policy against corruption, nab corrupt elements of the society, recover looted amounts from them and deposit it into national exchequer. It’s prime duty of the NAB to produce the corrupt in courts so that courts can punish them in accordance with the law,” he said while addressing NAB officers at NAB Punjab Headquarters here on Monday. All senior officers of the NAB Punjab were present on the occasion. Speaking to the officers, the NAB chairman said that out of 179 mega corruption cases the bureau had filed 96 in court while 25 were under investigation. As many as 33 cases have been finalized, he said. All regional bureaus have been asked to finalise their cases within three months and report to the NAB headquarters. He claimed that there was only one mega corruption case in NAB Punjab due to which bureau’s performance was good so far. He advised NAB investigators to prepare their cases well and after collection of concrete evidence file the cases in courts. He said there was no room for ‘Thana Culture’ in NAB.

He asked the officers to improve their performance and work in accordance with rules and laws.

He disclosed that everyone who would wish to inform NAB regarding corruption in society would be given due protection and his self-respect would be taken care of. He was of the view that all eyes were on NAB for elimination of corruption from the country. He warned NAVB officers against misuse of law.
