ISLAMABAD-The meeting of Senate Special Standing Committee on national sports federations was held under committee convener Ashok Kumar on Monday.
Inter provincial Coordination (IPC) minister Riaz Pirzada, Acting Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Director General Mansoor Ahmed, Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) Administrator Justice (r) Asad Munir, PCB’s Haroon Rasheed along with provincial sports board DGs and others were also present on the occasion.
Senator Sibli Faraz said politics is the order of the day in the federations. “Just because of infightings, liking and disliking, sports culture failed to get roots in the country. Pakistan is blessed with natural talent in every sport but unfortunately, there is a lack of sincere efforts to dig out fresh talent in all the game especially in soccer.”
He demanded to present the actual inside details why Pakistan was suspended by FIFA and who is responsible for bringing bad name to the country and depriving footballers of playing at international events.
PFF administrator Justice (r) Asad said: “The honorable court appointed me to run the PFF affairs. The federation is divided into two groups - one is headed by Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat and other by Zahir Shah. FIFA suspended Pakistan due to third party interference as it had made it clear that they don’t allow any interference in their affairs. It was really embarrassing that both the groups sent their respective football teams to take part in Kuwait international event.”
IPC minister Riaz Pirzada said a certain mafia is working in FIFA. “We have to look our interests and follow our own laws.” He once again made it very clear that the government didn’t interfere in the PFF affairs and soon a delegation would visit FIFA headquarters to plead Pakistan’s case.
