Dozen suspects held

KARACHI - The law enforcement agencies claimed to have arrested a dozen suspects including four arrested with bullets wounds here on Tuesday.

Two suspected criminals were arrested after an exchange of fire with the police in Nazimabad No 1 within the limits of Rizvia police station.

The suspects arrested were identified as Akbar Hussain alias Nana and Islamuddin alias Bhora who were later shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medical treatment. According to police officials, the encounter took place when the suspects were busy in looting the passersby, adding that the police personnel busy in routine patrol reached the site and arrested them in injured condition after an exchange of fire while their companion managed to escape under the cover of fire.

Police officials claimed that the suspects have been involved in more than one hundred cases of street crimes. The police also claimed to have recovered arms, ammunitions and a motorcycle from their possession. The cases against them were registered while further investigation was underway.

Similarly, two more suspected criminals were arrested during an alleged encounter with the police in Steel Town area. Police officials said that the encounter took place at Gulshan-e-Hadeed area of Steel Town, adding that the police also claimed to have recovered arms and ammunitions from their possessions. The suspects arrested were identified as Kashif and Akbar Khan.

Police officials said that the suspects were later shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medical treatment. The suspects were wanted to the police in various cases of crime. The cases against them were registered while further investigation was underway.

Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies claimed to have arrested at least 10 more suspects during ongoing targeted raids in various parts of the city.

According to Rangers spokesperson, a suspect was arrested during a raid conducted on a tip-off in Korangi area. The suspect arrested was later identified as Naushad Ahmed. Rangers spokesperson said that the suspect was involved in various cases of extortion.

Rangers also claimed to have arrested six more suspects during a series of raids conducted in parts of a city including Mobina Town, Sharifabad and Baloch Colony. The suspects arrested were identified as Khurram Abbasi, Arif, Waqar, Haroon, Faraz alias Dhanu, Imran alias rickshaw wala and Muhammad Khan.

According to Rangers spokesperson, the suspects arrested were involved in various cases of street crimes and robberies.

The Rangers also conducted a raid in Sharifabad area and arrested a suspect, namely Adnan who over the charges of possessing illegal weapon. Meanwhile, two more suspects, Farooq alias Billu and Shahid Ahmed Khan alias Bubli were arrested during a raid conducted on a tip-off in Khokhrapar area. They were accused of being involved in drug peddling. The Rangers officials also claimed to have recovered arms, ammunitions and drugs from their possession. The suspects were later handed over to the police for further legal action.
