LAHORE - Chairman Nazria Pakistan Trust and Editor-in-Chief The Nation, Majid Nizami has said that Shaheed Ghulam Haider Wyne was a pious man, who devoted his life for Pakistan and worked day and night for the progress of the country. He was addressing a special sitting on the 16th death anniversary of Shaheed Wyne organised by Nazria Pakistan Trust in collaboration with Tehreek-i-Pakistan Workers Trust at Aiwan-e-Karkunan Tehrik-e-Pakistan on Tuesday. Majid Nizami said that persons like Ghulam Haider Wyne never die and his spirit is still present here. This hall is a gift from him and similarly the Nazriati University at Johar Town, which only talk about Nazria Pakistan. Majid Nizami said Wyne set up a number of schools and he was chairman of the Municipality in Mian Channu. He was Sir Syed of the Town. He spent a simple life and stayed in Muslim League House often on a cot. He did not build his house and his widow is living with her sister. However, he was assassinated but his assassins could not be arrested. He urged the CM Punjab to take notice of the case. He was reader of Nawa-e-Waqt and brought a trunk full of copies of Nawa-e-Waqt when he migrated to Pakistan during partition. Begum Majida Wyne said that she was proud on the way the Shaheed spent his life. He wanted to do more but could not find time. She said Pakistan may not have been driven in crisis, if he was alive today. She said today rulers are looking after their interests and they are not concerned with the people and the country. PML leader Ghulam Dastgir said that Wyne did not change his life style after he became chief minister of Punjab. He said a common man can make progress if he follows the example of Wyne. He also paid tributes to Majid Nizami for his unchanged stance on Kashmir. Begum Bushra Rehman MNA said that Ghulam Haider Wyne was created by God for Pakistan and he sacrificed his life for Pakistan. She said he worked all night at PML House and remained content on 'dal rooti. Dr Ajmal Niazi said that wyne was representative of poor in the assemblies. Wyne also set up Lahore Press Club and constituted a committee for the assistance of eligible writers and laureates. He said we have no law but a law minister, no finance but a finance minister, no foreign policy but a foreign minister whose son is employee of John Kerry. How he can oppose the Kerry-Lugar Bill. Naeem Chatha said Wyne never followed the jagirdars and feudals. He was true Muslim and follower of the Quaid and Allama Iqbal. Muzaffar Salim Chugtai, Begum Safia Ishaq, MSF President Rana Arshad, Mohammad Aslam Zar advocate, Zaeem Qadri MPA, Brig (r) Zafar Iqbal and Prof Mohammad Rafique Alam also addressed.
