JI demands Bilours resignation

RAWALPINDI Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Punjab Naib Ameer Mian Muhammad Aslam said that railway bureaucracy was involved in plundering the money while poor employees were facing troubles due to non-payments of salaries by the railway administration. The railway bureaucracy is also responsible for the deteriorating condition of Pakistan Railways, he added. Mian Muhammad Aslam said this while addressing a protest demonstration staged by JI Rawalpindi chapter and a union of railway employees against non-payment of salaries, inflation, corruption and bad financial condition of Railways at Rawalpindi Railway Station here on Thursday. JI District Ameer Sajjad Ahmed Abbasi, city Ameer Muhammad Rizwan, Shamas-ur-Rehman Swati and PREM Union President Dr Ishtiaq Ifran were among the protestors, who were holding banners and placards inscribed with slogans against the government and railway administration. The enraged protestors also burnt tyres and bellowed slogans against PPP-led government, Federal Minister for Railways Haji Ghulam Ahmed Bilour and demanded earlier release of their salaries. JI Punjab Naib Ameer Mian Muhammad Aslam, while addressing the protestors, leashed out at railway bureaucracy saying all the railway officer were looting the money because of which the railway department, once was profitable, had reached at the verge of destruction. He said that the corruption in Pakistan Railways had attained new peaks while poor labourers were not being paid salaries. Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry should take suo notice of the deteriorating situation of Pakistan Railways and penalise the corrupt officials, Mian Aslam said. It was a conspiracy to declare Pakistan Railways as bankrupt institution to take possession of the property worth trillions of rupees, JI Naib Ameer said. Federal Minister for Railways Haji Ghulam Ahmed Bilour should immediately step down from his office for his inability to run the organisation and make it profitable organisation like in the past. Speaking on the occasion, JI District Ameer Sajjad Ahmed Abbasi and PREM Union President Dr Ishtiaq Irfan said that PPP led government had baldy failed in mitigating the problems being faced by poor people of the country. The poor performance of PPP ked government can be judged from the fact that despite passage of long time, the salaries of railway employees yet to be paid they said. They said that PPP leadership, which came into power by raising slogan of Roti, Kapra and Makan, has deprived the destitute segments of the society from the basic need otherwise. They said that Federal government was treating with Pakistan Railway workers like stepmother. They said that the poor workers were not getting their salaries and the Federal Minister is withdrawing his salary and fringe benefits as per schedule, which was injustice. If Federal Minister for Railways Haji Ghulam Ahmed Bilour fails to turn the organisation as profitable then it should accept the offer of Railway PREM Union Central President Hafiz Suleman Butt to give him the charge of railways for one year and he will make the organisation a profitable department, they said.
