KARACHI - President Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Mian Abrar Ahmad has said that decision by Federal Board of Revenue to amend the Annexure D of the Income Tax Return is not accepted to the business and industrial community. He demanded that the FBR must delete the whole Annexure D. Business and industrial community cannot and will not file Income Tax Returns till the resolution of issues informed earlier therefore he demanded to extend the date of filing the Income Tax Returns. Annexure D requires businessmen to furnish details of expenses incurred, including education/ spouse/ self travelling/ telephone and mobile bills/ internet and so on. This is against the spirit of self assessment, where genuine tax payers come forward voluntarily and submit their claim. Businessmen are paying substantial taxes on advance stage simply to avoid underhand dealing and to operate with peace of mind, and least possible documentation. President KCCI said that Karachi Chamber earlier had also demanded to withdraw the unnecessary amendments made in Sales Tax, Federal Excise and Income Tax Return Filing via recently introduced return filing system and the relevant form which made the filing system complicated, hence, the businessmen cannot accept the amended return in its present form and consequently the tax payers are unable to comply. President KCCI has urged that FBR should stop creating such resistance and opening avenues for corruption and simplify the tax filing system.
