ISLAMABAD - Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has said a petition will be filed in the Supreme Court (SC) against appointment of Admiral (Retd) Fasih Bokhari as chairman NAB on Saturday. Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, he said the appointment was unconstitutional, as the government did not consult the opposition. He termed President Asif Ali Zardari the biggest hurdle in appointing an impartial person as a head of the accountability bureau. We dont accept appointment of Fasih Bokhari as chairman NAB. President Zardari is not ready to appoint a person, on the slot, who exposes his corruption. Zardari has made NAB a joke to serve his personal interest. How long this stage play will continue. We will bring it to an end now, Nisar added. He noted that despite Supreme Court decision in Justice (Retd) Deedar Shah case, the rulers continued with self-serving policies, adding that President Zardaris 60 million dollars stashed in Swiss banks would be brought back to the national exchequer if NAB was made effective. Responding to a question, he said why the government was not writing letter to Switzerland government on NRO issue despite courts orders. The opposition leader cannot appoint chairman NAB but he gives his opinion only, he added. He said opposition could not bring its favorite as chairman NAB. There is no case of corruption against Nawaz Sharif, he stated. It is laid down in the Constitution that impartial government will be inducted in centre and provinces to hold general elections. If consultation process is held on the pattern it has been carried out for appointment of chairman NAB then perhaps President Zardari will appoint Rehman Malik as interim prime minister, he underlined. He also castigated the government over Financial Times report, as it did not clarify its position despite his pleas on the floor of the National Assembly.
