MIRPUR (AJK) - Azad Jammu & Kashmir Prime Minister Ch Abdul Majeed has reiterated his government's resolve to encourage and promote Islamic values and teachings in the Azad Jammu & Kashmir in view of the ancient traditional high stature of the state being the soil of the priests and preachers of Islam like Baba Peera Shah Ghazi (RA) and mystic poet scholar Mian Muhammad Bakhsh (RA).

"To translate the idea in to a reality, the AJK government has principally decided to establish a world-class Islamic University at Khari Shareef in Mirpur, in the near future for dispensation of quality Islamic education depicting high Islamic values, norms and principles to portray the true picture of Islam besides to dispelling the misconception created by the anti-Islam forces about this supreme religion of peace and harmony", the Prime Minister said this while speaking at a reception hosted by Raja Ijaz Salim, a famous agriculturist, writer and columnist and owner of Saleem Agricultural Farm at village Channi Raiki at Panjairi in Bhimbher district of AJK on Sunday.

The ceremony was largely attended by the elites from Mirpur and Bhimber representing diverse segments of civil society besides high ranking officials of the local civil administration including DIG Police Mirpur range Sardar Gulfraz Khan, SSP Mirpur Raja Irfan Salim, Major (r) Furqan Salim, DC Bhimber Muhammad Tayyeb Chaudhry, DC Mirpur Ch Guftar Hussain, Vice Chancellor designate of the state-run Mirpur University of Science & Technology (MUST) Dr Habibur Rehman, APCA Mirpur District President Chaudhry Muhammad Ajayeeb, PML-N Samani valley President Haji Raja Muneer Ullah Khan, DC Rehabilitation Raja Arshad Mahmood, Major (r) Masoodul Hassan Bukhari, Engr Muhammad Hamid Chaudhry and others.

Speakers including the host Raja Ijaz Salim, Chairman Union Council Panjairi Raja Tariq Mahmood and elder of the area Raja Shahid Khaliq applauded the AJK government for fixing the priorities for reducing the public problems besides launching various projects of public welfare including those in health and education sectors.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Majeed asserted that his government had established three universities and five colleges of higher professional education including three medical colleges in the public sector in the AJK so far. "It reflected the true and in depth commitment of the incumbent regime for promotion of higher education across AJK without any discrimination", he pointed out.

Lashing out at his rivals, without naming his ruling (PPP AJK) stalwart and former Prime Minister Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry and the ex Prime Minister Sardar Sikander Hayat Khan, PM Majeed accused both the pioneers of corruption in Azad Jammu & Kashmir. He blamed that those joining heads in Nikayal (the native town of former Premier Sardar Sikander Hayat in Kotli district) did nothing for the masses except exploiting the poor, downtrodden and suppressed class merely for the nourishment of their vested interests.

The AJK Prime Minister who was seemed to be much desperate by having been much sick and perplexed of the continued increased severe criticism by the opposition on his government's policies, declared that he would continue the journey without taking care for those raising fingers on his government under the prejudice of 'opposition-for-opposition'. He asserted that his government would complete its five-year constitutional term despite undue hue and cry of the opponents.

Majeed also refuted the allegations of massive corruption, malpractices and irregularities levelled against his government by the opposition.

The Prime Minister announced establishment of a government girls degree college in Panjairi, two high schools, one each for boys and girls in Channi Raiki village and construction of link road between Channi Raiki and the Mirpur-Bhimbher Road besides meeting other local demands.
