The incidents of robbery, dacoity, bike-snatching and removing of hides of donkeys after slaughtering have been increased in the district over the past fortnight.

According to villagers of Hunjranwanwala, unidentified accused stolen eight donkeys, owned by Irshad Hunjra, Younas, Ghulam Sarwar, Muhammad Asghar, Yaqoob and Saeed. Later the accused slaughtered them and took away their hides, abandoning their meat and offal near the village.

Few days ago, donkey-lifters had lifted three donkeys owned by Muhammad Asif and Rashid from village Mangat Neecha. The accused took the donkeys to a deserted place near the village where they slaughtered them and removed their hides, leaving behind the meat of the donkeys there. Similarly, hides of seven donkeys were stolen from Mehmoodpur and their hides were removed by the unidentified accused.

According to another report, two armed robbers snatched away Rs250,000 from Hussnain Shahbaz, a salesman of a cellular phone company in broad daylight on Tuesday. The victim was proceedings towards Chiniot on his bike and when he reached near Bahu Mann village, two bandits snatched away cash and cellphone from at pistol point.

According to yet another report a bike lifter lifted away bike No. HZK-2112 from the showroom of Ijaz Ahmad from busiest Gujranwala road today. The police are investigating.
