Scores of brick kiln workers continued hunger strike for the second day outside the office of district labour officer on Tuesday against low wages by the kiln owners.

They flayed the government over its failure to get implemented its notification regarding wages of kiln workers. Labour Qaumi Movement leaders Shabbir, Sajida and Baba Arshad Insari said in their speeches that the kiln workers and owners had reached an agreement under which the kiln owners had to pay Rs800 per 1,000 bricks but they were refusing to comply with the agreement now. They announced that hunger strike will continue till the acceptance of the demand.

WOMAN ‘KILLED BY IN-LAWS’: A woman has been killed allegedly by her in laws including her husband in Chak 323-JB. Police arrested Shabbana’s husband Ghazanfar Jat, his younger brother, father and mother for allegedly killing her. The 23-year-old was married two year ago and mother of a daughter. They had been quarrelling over the birth of a daughter. On the day of incident, they again exchanged harsh words and killed her. They all had been arrested after registration of a case. The district police head has formed a team headed by Saddr police SHO Ali Raza to probe the case.
