LAHORE - Tourism Minister Rana Mashhood Ahmed has expressed hope that introduction of double-decker tourists bus service in Lahore would help promoting tourism in the city.

Speaking at a ceremony to give away prizes among participants of a cooking competition at Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (ITHM) on Tuesday, he said that similar bus service would be introduced in other cities of the province with tourism potential.

Cooking competition was arranged in connection with World Chef Day. Teams of Girls Degree College Samanabad, Lahore College for Women University and Jinnah Degree College got first, second and third positions respectively. Managing Director TDCP Ahmer Malik and Principal ITHM Nadeem Butt were also present.

Rana Mashood Ahmed said that the government was taking measures for promoting tourism. He said that Cholistan Jeep Rally was one of the biggest such even in the world. He said that the government was providing state of the art facilities to the tourists visiting Soon Sakesar.

He said that the government was also taking measures to protect sacred sites for Sikhs and Hindus. He said that the government was establishing Gandhara University Texla and Baba Gurunanak University. He said that there were some important sites for tourists from Buddhism. He said that the government was adopting all measures to protect tombs and other important historical buildings on the route of Metro Orange Line.
